As Drive Day approaches, the downtown trolley system will be a popular mode of transportation for people to get to and from the game. That’s right, the Greenville Transit Authority is cutting back on lines to increase ridership. Instead of two game-day routes, officials created one focused on West End parking. We have also changed our weekend route. Currently, it only goes up and down Main Street. It has been said that if ridership does not increase, the Main Street route will end and the trolley will only use the game day route. The trolley system is maintained using tourism funds. I woke up this morning to nice weather in the 60’s. A great start to the day from Lake Hartwell. There’s still a full moon there and temperatures are starting to get into the 60s as we move through the afternoon. It’s truly a great day to spend at the lake. The water is still a little cold, but it’s mostly dry today. Temperatures will still be in the 60s through this morning, but will quickly climb toward 80 degrees later this day. The forecast calls for mostly clear skies and will still be quite warm late this evening. Changes are coming for the weekend. Scattered storms returned Saturday, but conditions are still in the 80s across the north. A cold front will move through on Easter Sunday. Although no bad weather is expected, the rain will be heavy at times, but it is necessary rain so we will take it to the mountains. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Simpsonville Police Department wants to raise awareness, promote prevention and support victims. The campaign includes a pinwheel display, currently installed on the Great Lawn of Grace Row Park. Police say the pinwheel is a national symbol of child abuse prevention. It seems that there are several other events planned for this month. Blood Connection Partners partners with Greenville Technical College to help those in need. Work and Collect at University Collect enough blood to earn points that can be used to stock the campus food pantry. A caring corner. The school’s pantry provides food and supplies, and its student support and resource center connects students to community resources, according to the school, which says more than half of its students have at least one type of basic education experience. Anxiety is necessary throughout the year. It is very important that students have access to these resources. We are a community college and we want to provide our students with resources that will help them not only on campus, but also in their personal lives.
